Property Overview
Ishasha Wilderness Camp is nestled within the Southern Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park along the Ntungwe River, offering a tranquil escape for those who truly appreciate the wilderness. This secluded camp merges the enchantment of a tented wilderness retreat with exceptional service in this untouched and isolated part of the National Park. The Ishasha savannas are renowned for their tree-climbing lions, often seen lounging in the branches of the large fig trees.
Situated within the park, wildlife roams freely through the camp. Elephants can be spotted bathing in the river, buffalo graze nearby, and troops of Black-and-White Colobus and vervet monkeys are frequently observed.
The thatched central lounge and dining area provide a cozy setting for meals and relaxation, although meals are often enjoyed ‘al fresco’ with river views when the weather permits. In the evening, the outdoor campfire is the perfect spot for guests to unwind with sundowners and share their day’s adventures.

Experiences & Activities
During early morning or late afternoon game drives, you can explore Ishasha’s pristine wildlife area. The camp’s remote location ensures minimal encounters with other visitors, giving you a sense of having the park to yourself. The area is known for frequent sightings of hyenas and tree-climbing lions. Enjoy Ishasha’s expansive vistas and the ambiance of this stunning region of the park with a bush breakfast or late afternoon sundowner by the Ntungwe River or along the ridge.
Queen Elizabeth National Park spans 1,978 km² in the western arm of the Great East Rift Valley. Its savannah and riverine habitats host elephants, lions, hippos, leopards, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, baboons, and over 600 bird species. Community visits and tours, birdwatching, wildlife walks, gorilla trekking excursions, and boat cruises are also available. Some activities require pre-booking at additional cost.
